WEC WORLD ELECTROLYSIS CONGRESS 2024

WORLD ELECTROLYSIS CONGRESS - WEC 4-7 MARCH 2024, CROWNE PLAZ, DüSSELDORF, GERMANY

The momentum in the clean hydrogen sector is undeniable, with over 1000 projects already on the horizon. While the industry is making incredible strides, there's still much work ahead to turn these ambitious plans into operational realities.

World Hydrogen Leaders are delighted to bring back the World Electrolysis Congress for its third edition, taking place from March 4th to 7th in Germany.

The renewable hydrogen industry is experiencing rapid growth and innovation, with a surge in research, development, and deployment of electrolysis technologies. Government incentives, coupled with increasing demand for clean energy solutions, are driving substantial investments and fostering a promising outlook for a sustainable hydrogen future.

With a projected 750+ projects, summing to over 52GW of green hydrogen capacity, set to be in place by 2030, engaging with new technologies and leading minds in the project deployment space is more important than ever. The World Electrolysis Congress brings together the brightest minds in the industry to collaborate and exchange ideas, leading to a future of more efficient and effective technology.

Following two successful editions of the World Electrolysis Congress, World Hydrogen Leaders are excited to bring back the only event focusing solely on electrolyser technology for producing clean hydrogen returning to Germany for its third edition at the Crowne Plaza Düsseldorf - Neuss Hotel from 4-7th of March 2024.

Featuring a four-day congress presented by 100 expert speakers, the expert programme will explore crucial topics relating to deploying large and small scale clean hydrogen projects globally, efficiently scaling up and tackling financial challenges to name a few key themes on the programme.

More than 600 senior hydrogen specialists from across the value chain will come together to discuss innovation and technology solutions in a collaborative and positive environment. Take advantage of this opportunity to stay ahead of the curve in this rapidly evolving market and be a part of powering the future of the global clean hydrogen industry.

The event offers alternatives to the use of petroleum and natural gas, by way of assisting fossil fuel producers to transition, as seen in the EGYPES and ADIPEC events, also in 2024. With the United Nations COP29 on the horizon to be held in Azerbaijan.

DUISPORT

Duisburg Port Authority operates Germany’s largest inland harbour and logistics hub, providing full-service shipping, trade, and freight capabilities. The port is developing new infrastructure for hydrogen production, pipeline distribution, and refuelling to supply clean hydrogen fuel for port logistics and regional industries. With its logistics services and emerging role as a sustainable hydrogen hub, Duisburg is positioning itself as a leading European port of the future.

In addition, the subsidiaries provide logistical services such as the development and optimization of transport and logistics chains, rail freight transport services, building management, contract, and packaging logistics.

The clean hydrogen industry is charged with promise, with over $570 billion in direct investments.

However, progress has been slower than anticipated - fewer than 10% of projects have reached the Final Investment Decision (FID), the crucial milestone that greenlights execution.

Our latest intelligence report explores the industry barriers to clean hydrogen projects reaching the FID phase. We map out what needs to change for more projects to progress from pipeline to production.

Educational and Cultural Exchange: We envision collaborating with institutions to develop educational programs and cultural experiences onboard the Queen of the Nile cruiser, including derivative vessels for use on rivers and coasts around the world, fostering understanding and appreciation for Egypt's rich history and culture, further strengthening international cooperation.

CUTTING EDGE SHOWCASE - The "Queen of the Nile" themed solar and hydrogen powered ship features Cleopatra as her figurehead in Isis form. This vessel could be ready for the next WEC in 2025 or 2026 with a fair wind. She is an EU Mission, designed to demonstrate zero carbon sea and river transportation in action. Derived from the "Elizabeth Swann" she could be the world's fastest hydrogen vessel. The Cleaner Ocean Foundation sends their very best to all those involved in making the World Hydrogen Congress event happen. Nothing would give them greater pleasure, than visiting the Elbe, Moselle and Rhine in this Zero Carbon technology showcase, perhaps to coincide with future European events.
