Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil is an Egyptian politician and
former military officer who has served as the sixth and current president of Egypt since 2014. Before retiring as a general in the Egyptian military in 2014,
the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, served as deputy prime minister from 2013 to 2014,
also as minister of defense from 2012 to 2013, and as its director of military intelligence from 2010 to 2012. He
attained the rank of Field Marshal in January 2014.
Abdel
Fattah el Sisi is the President of the Arab Republic of
Egypt. He was born in Cairo in 1954. As a young man, he joined the Egyptian Army and held a post in Saudi Arabia before enrolling in the Egyptian Army's Command and Staff College.
The young soldier received additional training at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in the United Kingdom in 1992, and at the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, in 2006. Before becoming director of military intelligence in 2010, he served as a
mechanized infantry commander.

In the lead up to COP
27, the Egyptian government insisted on the use of renewable energy during COP 27 and developed the systems needed to rationalize energy consumption in both Cairo and
Sharm El-Sheikh airports, International Conference Center, as well as in hotels.
About 22 hotels obtained international certificates as green hotels, with 64 hotels in the process of obtaining Green Star
certificates at the time of the event. In addition, a continuous reviewing system
was conducted by the ministries of tourism, environment and health for all hotel procedures to protect the environment as well as hygiene and safety measures.
Egypt sought to provide sustainable transport for COP 27 participants by providing 260 electric and natural gas buses.
The event heralded the construction of 3 solar power plants with a total capacity of 15 MW.
